St. Anna’s Residence operates under the medical direction of Charles Cefalu, M.D. a nationally known geriatrician. Professor and Chief of Geriatrics at Louisiana State University School of Medicine and Co-Director of the Center on Aging at the LSU Health Sciences Center, Dr. Cefalu describes the St. Anna’s environment as one that is “a true home representing the highest quality of resident care that can be achieved.”

As an affiliated teaching facility of LSU Heath Sciences Center, St. Anna’s serves as a clinical training site for medical students, residents and fellows. Dr. Cefalu believes the uniqueness of St. Anna’s will be “very conducive to changing medical residents’ preconceived attitudes about the practice of gerontology” and can play a positive role in helping shape the career choices of these physicians.
