A full-time Lifestyles Director keep our residents entertained with a wide variety of activities designed to stimulate and accommodate residents’ specific interests and abilities. Live musical performances are a regular activity at St. Anna's. Movies, gardening projects, guest speakers, card games, arts and craft projects, and seasonal holiday plans round out our packed activities calendar. Residents also enjoy special outings to various eateries and local attractions.

A partnership with the nearby Louise S. McGehee School seventh graders offers intergenerational interactions with our residents throughout the school year. As part of their Building Bridges program, the McGehee girls visit our residents frequently to participate in many well-thought-out activities ranging from decorating together for upcoming holidays to competing in a tailor made “St. Anna’s Senior Olympics.” The importance of such intergenerational relationships is heightened by the fact that so many of our residents have far flung families and are rarely able to visit with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Often times, the bonds forged between residents and students persist and inspire these young ladies to continue to volunteer at St. Anna’s into their high school years.

Every year St. Anna’s selects its own Mardi Gras royalty, a king and queen, from our resident population.

McGehee students assist residents with bright and cheerful container gardening projects in the Spring within our two courtyard gardens.

Residents enjoy outings to various shopping venues through the Activities Department with the help of the McGehee students

Residents explore their artistic talents with the aid of our Activities Department and the McGehee seventh graders in a wide variety of arts and crafts projects.

Our Dietary Department helps residents celebrate the season with special festive meals to accompany events such as our annual luau.

Our residents really get into the spirit of Mardi Gras. With St. Anna’s located just a block off St. Charles Avenue, parades are a much anticipated event.
